Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/24
February 24, 2018 35 degrees this morning at 10am…..not good! I got up to 42 yesterday here at home….really not good!! We did pick up about 3 inches before it quit and got warm yesterday. The weather guessers are calling for temps to be around 40 all next week, this will put a hurtin on our trail system for sure. The paved roads around here are all bare now and the plowed dirt roads are turning into mud. The sections of trail #8 that the loggers plowed are starting to turn ugly too. Sorry, not really good news. Here`s what went on yesterday for the trails….. Groomer Kevin took off on the Point Trails yesterday morning but only got an hour in and he blew a fan belt. He cut the run and milked her back to the barn (luckily). It is a special metric measure belt (figures) and the only place we can find one is in England…..can you believe that!!!! So what we tried to do is wrap a rope around the pulleys and get a measurement. We had a person in the Soo and tried to get a belt close enough to get back on the trail. First attempt failed! This morning another guy, Groomer Dave F., went to the Soo with a better idea of the size. He`ll be back around noon and we`ll try it again. Meanwhile, Groomer Steve took the only machine we have left and ran the Falls trail. He called it in good shape. Groomer Loren is out right now on the Stump trail. We are still waiting on the injector pump for the other machine. That looks like the middle of next week though. So there you go. Welcome to my nightmare!!!!!
