Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/28
Bob checked in with us while riding today…..this is what he had to report! “Just rode from Vansville Bar to top of Brockway mountain. First few miles out of Vansville north were pretty bumpy. Northbound Trail to Brockway is very very good. It’s a beautiful clear day. Current temperature in Copper Harbor is 41. I would tell you that 95% of the trails will hold up after today. The problem is that it’s been several days since they’ve groomed and that’s what caused the bumps” Very encouraging report from Bob and some beautiful photos. Groomers will be out tomorrow through Saturday trying to cover as much area as possible north of the bridge in the mornings and at night, permitting the temperatures drop as forecasted. Forecast shows chance of white gold too so put the snow dance shoes back on and start the dance! <> <> This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and in Fair to good, end of season condition. Trails on the south end are showing end of season wear and their groomers have been pulled off the trails. The trails on the north end are still in pretty good shape. Groomers on the North end are not out today because of warm temperatures. They hope to go out Thursday and Friday. Trail 133 is now closed for the rest of the season, due to logging. Please respect this closure and stay off the trail. There is still plenty of good riding on the rest of the Keweenaw Snowmobile Clubs trail system. You can still get in and out of Gay via trail 122/124. Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away. The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trail are there for riders’ safety so please DO Not remove or destroy them.
