Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 01/02
LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Bergland Bay Bar – 1/2 Currently 32 and cloudy. Weather underground says we can expect a few snow flurries or snow showers today. <> LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 1/2 01-02-20 From Gogebic Area Grooming Trail Report: Trail # 1 from Bergland to Whitepine This trail is being groomed nightly and is reported to be in fair to good condition. A few wet spots on the trail still exist and is advised to use caution when traveling. Trail # 1 South towards Marenisco from Trail # 8 (Ethelwood Grade) This trail was packed in with just the groomer and a drag will be going down it tomorrow 1-3-20. However where the trail comes out onto the “closed” trail 8. A huge water whole is making it impossible for trail sleds to pass through to get towards Hoop N Hollar. We will be working on these holes very soon to get it to freeze. From Logging site to Marenisco on trail # 1 use caution as the water spots are still open. Trail # 1 south from Marenisco to Wisconsin Border This trail is being groomed daily and is reported to be in good condition. Trail # 8 east from Bergland to Ewen This trail is being groomed daily and is reported in good condition. Trail # 8 from Bergland to Wakefield. Currently closed, trail has a few wet spots that are making impassable for trail sleds. We will be working on this as soon as we can. Our neighboring club to the west Gogebic Range Trail Authority even offered to help make this safe and passable. We will both keep you posted on progress with trail 8 west. Trail 102 from Bergland to Trail #11 Has been packed down with just the groomer to fill in the wet spots. We will be out daily on this trail to get it back into shape. From Trail # 1 that goes to Whitepine to the intersection of Trail #102 is very wet and in bad condition. Use extreme caution when ride that section of trail. We are attempted to freeze those bad spots in but can’t keep up with the flow of water. Trail # 13 North from Bergland to 101 This trail is being groomed daily and is reported to be in good condition. Only one semi wet spot but is being filled nightly. Trail # 13 south from Bergland to Root Cellar This section of trail is 90% ridding on East Shore Rd. We keep getting told that it will be open to us in a week or two. Let’s hope it sooner then later! Trail 13 south from Root Cellar to 100 This trail will be hit every other day, or until the traffic picks back up when 13 from Bergland to Root Cellar opens back up. Trail #13 south from 100 to Trail # 2 This trail is reported to be groomed daily and is in good condition. Only a few wet spot appear but are being filled in nightly to freeze up. Trail # 100 south end of Lake Gogebic This trail is reported be groomed daily and is in good condition. Only a few wet spots appear but are being filled in nightly to freeze up as well. Riders are asked to use caution when riding all the trails. We maybe grooming a nice trail! But when a bad spot comes up, you need time to react and avoid the damaged area’s. We encourage riders to tell other riders of the dangerous area that may appear before our groomers can get to them at night. As always, ride safe and enjoy our area. All the Grooming Clubs have been busting their butts off to fight Mother Nature once again. So don’t hesitate to join a club that you visit.
