Gaylord Area Trail Report – 01/11

You may have heard a train derailed on the evening of January 7th along Trail 7, just south of Old State Road. The trail is still open.

Trails are currently in fair condition, depending on the area. Some of our area received a couple inches of fresh snow overnight and grooming is resuming today. More snow is forecast for Saturday Evening with an expected accumulation of 5 inches. Watch out for possible water holes in some areas. Check back with us for updates and weather reports.

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic –

Combo riding, a group that was in yesterday explained riding in simple terms. It is a combination of jet skiing and snowmobiling. At 2:30 this morning it was pouring rain and by 7:30 we had about 1 inch of white crunchy snow which is the same that we have here in Frederic this morning. I saw 2 guys unloading over at the swamp when I got here and there is one trailer in my back lot……this is not what we wanted to see for conditions. I even checked the motels this morning and there was 1 trailer at Days Inn and 5 at the Ramada. I drove my plow truck home last night so I could be prepared this morning to move all the snow. Well maybe tonight the storm will really hit. Talked to some guys yesterday that tried for the bridge but only made it to Indian River and said it was terrible past there. I still havent talked to anyone that has made the bridge yet this season. A family is in here right now that went up to starvation lake last night and said that was a decent ride. All you can do is try at this point….A big thank you to Brook and Kathleen who dropped off some coneys to me from Mega Coney in Fenton……keeps me fat and happy. I also left some of my WTF/Sledheads glasses with Sis at the Frederic Inn last night. If you go in there and as get a drink and ask her for one of the glasses you get to keep the glass…….Lets hope for more snow….Thanks for checking in Pete
