Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/03
It’s about 11 am on a calm and quiet morning in downtown Frederic, havent heard or seen a sled this morning, trail crossings up by the high school looked snirty but I have seen way worse.
Motels emptied out this morning with only 7 at the Ramada and 3 at the Days inn. Riders were steady yesterday and while there isnt much in the way of predictions for this coming up weekdays it looks like we may get a little new snow with some on wednesday and some on saturday.
So that sounds like a crap shoot and we just have to wait and see. Now today I wonder if I will get anyone stopping in here on their way back from the U.P. Many have you contact me and we talk back and forth sometimes in person or online. Please be sure to tell me who you are when you come in as I had it happen 4 times this weekend that people come in and I dont recognize or remember who you are, and the masks do not make it any easier. Sometimes someone can come back a half hour later and I dont remember they were here…..sorry I am just getting old but a reminder would be helpful…..I always remember with a hint…….I am updating from a different computer today to see if I can get a picture on without trouble. If I still have trouble than I know its my website uploader…..the trouble started about the same time as my site was recovered. If the pic shows up here its some riders from Friday. Also a reminder to those of you that may be looking for a nice place to stay when you come up I have my rental cottage next to where I live at Lake Margrethe. Here is a link to my page on it Wayside Inn Cottage A few more trailers came into my storage lot this past weekend but I still have slots available if you do not want to haul yours back and forth. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A cold night is on tap as temps fall into the teens and perhaps single digits across much of northern Michigan, especially in areas heavily impacted by the recent ice storm. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Looking ahead, it will be quieter Tuesday before another system brings the potential for another active wintry system for midweek. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyA cold night is on tap as temps fall into the teens and perhaps single digits across much of northern Michigan, especially in areas heavily impacted by the recent ice storm. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?
WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> From Billy Miller in Gaylord. Absolutely wild how trees bend to the ground under the immense weight of the ice. Did you know a 30ft diameter tree can weight up to 7,000 extra lbs with that amount of ice on it? Crazy. More frequent posting angers the Facebook algorithm. We can fight back by having you like or react to this post even if you don't actually "like" the content. (who does in this case, right?) But, it helps Facebook put the information out there in more news feeds. Heart, like, sad, anger reactions all work. Thanks! #miweather #gaylord... See MoreSee Less
GAYLORD AREA WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> #miweather #gaylordFrom Janeen Wardie in Gaylord. This is her neighborhood.
Do not go outside unless you're in the open. The risk of loss of life from falling trees is high.
