Newberry Trail Report – 01/08
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association – 01/08 January 8, 2021 7:30am THE GATE IS STILL CLOSED AT COUNTY RD 500 THAT CROSSES THE SWAMP TO THE FALLS. There is just no other way to slice it or sugar coat it. The trails are poor. The lack of snow and warmer temperatures has just deteriorated what was there. Granted there is a spot here or there but that is it. If you are going out for a ride PLEASE DO SO WITH CAUTION DUE TO THE CONDITIONS. The snow is about 6-6 inches deep. We want to emphasize Extreme CAUTION!! Your safety is our priority! Trail 45: The gate East of County Road 500 that crosses the swamp is still closed. Please see the note above. Poor Trail 9: Not much to say here but Poor Trail 2: There is not much snow South and we have not been that way since Dec.29th Poor Northstore: Gas and snacks and rentals. Sunday – Thursday 9am to 9pm. Friday and Saturday 9am to 11pm Pine Stump: Gas and Food. Take out, To Go Window, Gas or limited covered outdoor tables. 12pm to 8pm. Wolf Inn: Take Out and a couple of tables outside. The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
