TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Ranch Rudolf – 1/19/21 Things are coming the right direction. Nothing significant, but we have received some snow the past couple of days and everything is snow covered again 🎉 We will be open Saturday and Sunday, I’ll provide more details and a trail report by the end of the week. This system appears to be more straightforward than the previous one. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> 8:40 AM ET radar update: Widespread stratiform rain near central MI and in the lower elevations, with a wintery mix over the hills of northern lower, and snow near the tip of the mitt, eastern upper, and in the highest elevations. Precipitation will continue through the day and should remain light. Heavier precipitation will likely be this evening and tonight over areas north of M-55. The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
Another polar front will move through next week bringing even colder temperatures. It was announced at the meeting that GTASC will be receiving a new Dubie drag for this season. (Our current drags are 20+ years old). This will be a welcomed addition to the fleet and cut down on our current maintenance time and cost. There is still plenty of work that needs to be performed on the trails. We will be brushing this Sunday. If you can, come on out and give us a hand. We would appreciate it! #traversecity
