January 21, 2021 35 degrees this morning and really windy. It is supposed to cool off throughout the day and then hold "normal" temps for awhile once this warm front blows through. We are supposed to pick up 5-6 inches the next couple of days on top of the 5-6 inches we have got the last couple of days. We sure could use a ton more though!!!!!! Here`s what we`ve been up to the last couple of days and da plan for this weekend……… Yesterday we took 2 machines and 4 guys and went into the swamp south of town. We were really hoping that it would be fairly frozen in but it wasn`t. We made it thru and did the best we could with the limited snow we had to work with to fill in the water holes. Some of the holes got up to 3 feet deep!!! The gates are CLOSED on this section of trail. DO NOT go around them. If you do and sink DO NOT expect us to come help you!!! We will not risk sinking a groomer….you have been warned! After going thru the swamp we headed out the Falls trail #45 to check on the 2 main water holes out there. We froze them in last week and they held up pretty good. We did not break through with the groomers so today we are gonna take a machine with a drag through there and groom this section up!!!! If it turns out decent (which it probably will) we`ll open the gates up. Tomorrow we are gonna groom to Pine Stump plus run just a machine around the Point trails #452 and #453. There are a couple of good water holes on this trail to work on. If we can get them filled in we will groom them on Saturday. Also on Saturday we plan on grooming the South trail #8 but will have to skip the swamp section until we get a bunch of snow and more cold. Whew…..thats a lot to remember. Things are looking up. If you`re thinking about coming up this weekend there is riding to be had. Its not gonna be perfect but you`ll have fun. Just remember its like early season riding so slow down and watch for obstacles like sticks, rocks or open water. LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A clipper system will bring our first decent shot at accumulating snowfall for the eastern UP, where 3 to 6 inches…or even a little more in a few localized spots…could fall by Tuesday morning…with the worst conditions expected between 5 and 10pm. This system appears to be more straightforward than the previous one. Be careful and leave extra time for traveling as we are all trying to get used to driving in the snow again. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#traversecity#petoskey#straitsarea #soo #newberryA clipper system will bring our first decent shot at accumulating snowfall for the eastern UP, where 3 to 6 inches…or even a little more in a few localized spots…could fall by Tuesday morning…with the worst conditions expected between 5 and 10pm. FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average. Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#petoskey#gaylord#cadillac#traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW. After Thanksgiving, a large portion of the U.S. will likely see below normal temperatures into early December. And of course, there's southern Florida. 🌞
