TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Snowmobile Club – 01/22 We have finally received some snow with more snow in the forecast. I don’t think we received as much snow as Kalkaska and Gaylord but there should be plenty of snow for the trails. We will be resuming grooming and with the lake affect snow in the forecast we should have a decent weekend. I will do an update after I get a couple of reports from our groomers. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Trails are finally improving! We have had snow the past handful of days and temps are staying low enough to keep it.
