BENZIE / MANISTEE UPDATE via Benzie Manistee Snowbirds – 02/19 Deep snow in Bear lake manistee area. However once I hit the trail they were flat but still thin. Snows blowing off trail and not packy snow. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
