Benzie Area Trail Report – 02/20
BENZIE / MANISTEE UPDATE via Benzie Manistee Snowbirds – 02/20 Some areas on our system picked up 12” others like north picked up 3”. This is fluffy blow off the trail snow. We will be out tonight trying to flatten and fill holes before the wet system snow arrives Sunday night. Maple tractor is still thin base and only picked up a few inches. All this snow in areas and trails still thin. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
