MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 02/23
TRAIL REPORT – Tuesday, 2-23-2021
TRAILS TAKING A WARM WEATHER HIT! We received a dusting of new snow last night but did not help with temperatures in the low 30’s and 40 degrees right now. Operators reported fair grooming results with no balling-up snow last night but the trails would not set being this warm. Overall Good trails are staying fairly flat through the day with some icy corners developing and a few thin area bare spots. Ride with caution. Trail 8 from Shingleton to Trail 7 South is the highest used section of trail with snow sugary along that stretch. It has been a struggle this year and today’s weather will again have a negative impact on the trails so lets hope it is minimal. Keep the snow dances going as we have “heavy snow” in the forecast for Wednesday. It’s funny with the little amount of snow this season forecasters are considering only 2 to 5 inches “heavy snow”. Yesterday we moved the JD 7130 to the shop for some maintenance, repairs and track mods during this warm weather and plan to have it back on Trail 419 Thursday. Please respect residential property owners and STAY ON THE TRAIL, No Snowmobile Signs mean just that. Please DO NOT run the Powerlines off of Trail 419.
Our Team of volunteer Groomer Operators will continue to do their best to keep trails flat so; get out and ENJOY the Trails Ride Safe and Stay Tuned for updates! https://www.algersorva.com/trailreport/2-23-2021/

FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average. Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#petoskey#gaylord#cadillac#traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW.
