KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 03/01

Beautiful photo of Groomer Operators Justin Rogan and Richard Harris this morning on Brockway Mountain!

Yesterday’s fresh snowfall of 6-8 inches, cold temperatures and lower traffic was a win/win situation. Groomer Operators worked literally around the clock to get trails back into excellent shape. I personally rode just about every trail north of Mohawk and it was a dream day!

Green means Go! As shown on the Groomer Tracker
app – it’s all freshly groomed! Get out there and ride!
Download the app so you can have up to the minute status of the grooming status of trails!

Huge thank you to all of these Keweenaw Snowmobile Club Groomer Operators for their round the clock dedication to providing the absolute best possible trails! If you are interested in supporting the club please checkout the different ways you can:

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western & Southern UP Trail Reports – 03/01

Todays trail report from this morning. I left the barn at 6:00 am trail 3 north was still in good shape from the night crew. 130 Eagles loop looked in good shape with very little moguls to repair but had to work some high banks in the curves. Trail 132 Lac La Belle needed a little more work but came out looking real good. Once I started back south on Trail 3 it was starting to get moguled so I cut it a little more than the other trails and it looked good also. Temps stayed between 24° – 30° and started snowing pretty good at the end of my run. So far in Toivola Ive got 7" of snow. Over all trails are in good shape.

WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> ~First Polar Front Thanksgiving~
The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
Another polar front will move through next week bringing even colder temperatures. Expect reinforcing shots of very cold air over the next couple of weeks. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #petoskey #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity~First Polar Front Thanksgiving~

FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average.
Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #petoskey #gaylord #cadillac #traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW. Are trail gates closed on Trail 5 from Champion up to Big Bay and other trails around there or can we still sneak out? With this much snow, we can probably can’t see the gates! Lol.
