December 14, 2021 36 degrees this morning and cloudy. Man, a couple days ago it was looking like a real winter, then it turned to crap again. Yesterday was sunny and mid 40`s. Ya`ll know what that does for the snow pack. But, here`s what we have been up to since the 8-10 inches we got the other day……… Last Sunday we took 2 machines and 4 guys and headed out on trail #45 to the Falls. Long story short, its U-G-L-Y. Its hasn`t been very cold around here and all the water holes are not even close to freezing. We got the smaller ones filled in but the larger ones will have to wait for colder temps. We even got one groomer stuck in the muck! Thats the reason we always take two machines on freeze down! The gates remain closed on this trail, don`t even think about going around them! Yesterday we took 2 machines and 3 guys and headed south. We got the town trail set and then ran down the road to south of the river mouth. Didn`t even mess with the swamp just south of town, too warm out. The main mission for both these trips was checking for downed trees. Both trail sections were fairly clear so that part is done. We made it thru the federal forest section without too much problems but where it comes out on Curley Lewis it is very wet. We left the gate closed there also. Soooo……all not so good news…..darn weather. It is supposed to cool off starting this Friday, and maybe snow a little. We are talking about heading to Pine Stump out trail #8 this Friday or Saturday with 2 machines and one with a drag. I do have some good news. Our new machine is coming today!! YEA!!! I am heading "down below" for a few days this coming Thursday so won`t have another report for ya`s till I get back. See ya`s then. LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Tahquamenon General Store >> Well after a 2 day snow, that was predicting 1-3" a day has turned into a foot so far. Suppose to keep snowing for the next week as well. What we needed, but praying for people traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday, safe travels. Reminder we are closed today to do our Thanksgiving. Hope roads will be ok. But if we keep losing power, may have to stay and keep generator going. #snowphotos#newberryWell after a 2 day snow, that was predicting 1-3" a day has turned into a foot so far. We are ready to go. We have our sunk groomer (remember) back from the manufacturer with a brand new engine and the other 2 machines are good to go. The brushing and signing is about wrapped up on the high ground. All we need is Mother Nature to continue to cooperate and this season is gonna be awesome!!!! Just thought I would jump on here to see if I remember how to do this stuff and let ya`ll know we are still here. Keep checking back for the most honest trail reports for the Paradise area.
