Western U P Snowmobile Trail Report—12/28/2021 Happy New Year! Here’s a look at our forecast for the next several days. Today they are calling for snow showers this afternoon. Every little bit helps. Temps will be in the teens and 20’s with lows in the single digits for the next few days. We need more snow on the trails so it is still early season riding, please use caution. Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomer Report December 28, 2021 Tuesday good morning the groomers will be out on trail from Bessemer to Hurley and back to the ski hill’s to Wakefield. The other groomer will be out on trail 11 and 8 to Trail two to Marenisco and back to Wakefield. I ask all riders please pay attention and be safe while out on the trails during grooming operation, thank you. Gogebic Area Groomers Report December 28, 2021 Gogebic Area Groomers are out in the Lake Gogebic Area panning trails during daylight hours. Think ahead. Stay Right. Be safe as early conditions still exist. U.P. Thunder Riders Trail Report December 28,2021 Groomers will be out Tuesday Dec 28, we received around 6 inches of new snow overnight and more is in the forecast. Trails haven’t been groomed since Dec. 23 due to lack of snow Please use caution when riding and stay on the right side of the trail groomers may be running in the daytime hours Watersmeet Michigan Area Lake Gogebic Area <> WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> While the snow has been delayed in getting here early this morning, we are still on track to receive generally 3 to 6 inches of mostly wet snowfall across most of Upper Michigan today and tonight. Superior Snowmobile Club >> Just wind and rain here in Mass City! 🙁 Let it SNOW! FROM Gogebic Area Grooming >> Just to confirm.. We do have enough interest in brushing the access trail this Saturday at 9am Eastern time meeting at the Groomer barn. It's not a long stretch but badly overgrown. Bring boot's as it's usually muddy. If enough people show up and this get's accomplished early our trail 1n to White Pine needs a bunch of signage. So plenty of work for the day. Then on to our next situation. A bridge on 13s or East side of lake Gogebic needs redecked. This trail will not be opened until this bridge is repaired. To say we need help is an understatement. Plans are for bridge repair asap. Repair needs completed before Deer season (Nov. 15th) Rain, snow or shine. It should only take a day but dependent on if we have helper's. The access trail, 1n signage and bridge repair are all accessible by vehicle. Snow totals ranged from little to nothing along the Superior shoreline due to the warm lake temperatures, to 2 feet plus in the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties. Additional accumulations are expected around 1 to 4 inches, mainly in the high terrain of north central Upper Michigan. The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
Another polar front will move through next week bringing even colder temperatures.
