SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 1/4
This upcoming snow storm will freshen things up now that we’ve had some cold temps to help freeze things❄❄❄
<>
No pics to share because they were too busy working but wanted to share that groomer Dave and volunteer Jason spent over 9 hours yesterday on the very first groom of the season on the remaing section of trails 480 and 472 through the Spile Dam and also on trails 494 and part of 49 in Kinross south of M 80 and behind the airport. They cleared a ton of trees and encountered a few wet spots but nothing too bad.
At this time, the only sections of trail that have not been touched by a groomer are trail 49 from 12 mile south to M80 due to extreme water in the beaver dam, and also the section of 472 toward Rudyard. We hope to have that section of 472 done this week.
We are currently down 2 groomers and doing the best we can with the 2 that we have. We groom just over 100 miles. We’re doing the best that we can to cover it all with way we have. We’re hoping 1 of the two that are down will be up this week.
As always, big thanks to our volunteer groomer drivers and helpers for all of their dedication.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A clipper system will bring our first decent shot at accumulating snowfall for the eastern UP, where 3 to 6 inches…or even a little more in a few localized spots…could fall by Tuesday morning…with the worst conditions expected between 5 and 10pm. This system appears to be more straightforward than the previous one. Be careful and leave extra time for traveling as we are all trying to get used to driving in the snow again. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#traversecity#petoskey#straitsarea #soo #newberryA clipper system will bring our first decent shot at accumulating snowfall for the eastern UP, where 3 to 6 inches…or even a little more in a few localized spots…could fall by Tuesday morning…with the worst conditions expected between 5 and 10pm. FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average. Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#petoskey#gaylord#cadillac#traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW. After Thanksgiving, a large portion of the U.S. will likely see below normal temperatures into early December. And of course, there's southern Florida. 🌞
