Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A cold night is on tap as temps fall into the teens and perhaps single digits across much of northern Michigan, especially in areas heavily impacted by the recent ice storm. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. It’s currently snowing with a winter weather advisory for 3-5 inches of snow today. We have snow in the forecast for the next three days.. All trails were panned/groomed last night. Groomer Ben rated the Peegeos trail poor to fair. Ben groomed the power lines for the first time this year and had to cut them so sand was showing through last night. Groomer Chad did the Kalkaska route and reported fair to good conditions with some thin spots, snow was better near Kalkaska, pictures attach. Groomer Mike did the Fife Lake run and reported the same. All groomers will be running again tonight so please look out for them and give them a thumbs up if you see them.
