Snowmobile trails are in poor shape. We are mostly down to dirt and ice at this point. Hoping for a drastic turnaround. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. I wish I had better news for everyone but I don’t. The trails need a good dumping of snow, just like the ones that have gone south and north of us. There is snow in the woods but the trails themselves have more dirt than snow on them. Our groomers are sitting idle until we receive some measurable snow. Sadly, I wouldn’t ride my sled on them and would not recommend it to anyone else at this time. Today, it was sunny and 37. Tomorrow the forecast shows 36 and some wet flurries. I will continue to keep you informed of our current conditions, hopefully they will change for the better soon. Lets do some snow dances and hope for the best.
