The base is very thin but we tried to smooth it out as best possible. The beaver dam that we recently took down drained nicely but left a good size trench so use caution if traveling on this trail. The beavers looked to be retaliating by dropping some fresh trees across the trail which we cleaned up this evening. When we get some more snow we will start working on a snow bridge for the flowing creek. We also noted that recently someone decided to use a section of the trail with an ATV while it was still soft. Cleaned up and filled the ruts as best possible but there are still some decent ruts so again, use caution. Overall the base of Trail 1S is thin and there are exposed rocks, gravel and dirt in spots but is rideable and fairly smooth. The grade (Trail 1S and 2 combined) is in good condition and should be rock hard by tomorrow morning. Enjoy what we have, there is still decent riding to be had! #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... Currently 17° with light snow. Temp's are perfect and look to remain that way. Without sounding like a broken record, we need snow! Everything is rideable but it's painful for our Groomer's and equipment. We aren't able to fill in holes and you feel everything!! Trail's.. 8w to Wakefield. We've seen the question's and the answer is no, it has not been groomed. We've clearly stated that we only have 3, well now 2 trails groomable. Trail 8w is a wetlands area and cannot have any permanent drainage culverts placed so we have to put in temporary. Again only something we can do if we have snow to work with and cover the culvert. Tonight the only trails that were groomed was 102 and 1n. Tonight going up 102 we were spinning tracks quite a bit in corners and decided against going up 13n to avoid any type of accidents and damaging equipment. We'll hopefully wake up to 16" of fresh pow and go from there! Good evening/morning. Gogebic Area Grooming ❄️❄️❄️ #lakegogebic #westernup #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

The big system to the south will be giving us a little bit of snow on the north end Friday!
Expect a nice and easy 1-3" for the most part across the area. Roads will be slick at times, but salt and brine treatments should work just fine with temps in the middle 20s.
Winds could be about 10-15mph at times, which isn't too high, but still could cause some blowing around and reduced visibility. Mainly in wide open areas.
TIMING: Snow starts in Southwest Michigan, Lake Michigan shoreline of Northern Lower, and the U.P. between 7-8am. Flint and the TriCities by about 10-11am. Detroit likely after 12pm, maybe even as late as 2pm in some areas.
System snow will wrap up around midnight while lake effect kicks in on the west side of the state behind the system.
Lake effect totals Saturday are NOT included on this map. I'm keeping this for Friday only.
Lake effect Saturday will be very localized with some areas perhaps getting 3-6" more in heavy bands. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaSNOW TIME!!
