Munising Area Trail Report – 03/26
Glad we held off a day. Temperatures cooperated and trail 8 is actually grooming out nice. The Big Deere will be going out for another run Sunday morning from Shingleton west on 8 and 7 to Trail 418 and back. There are a few water holes but overall this section is fair to good. A full report will be posted in the morning. <> <> MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/19 10 day outlook isn’t good. More warm temps. We will not be restarting grooming this season. We will be setting up for mechanical brushing for next month. Reports from the trail are not good west of Chatham. Still ok east of Chatham. Dirt showing in many areas. Water pooling in the trail. Road crossings are bare. You can still ride until the end of the month, but it won’t make it that long. Expect the transition to pure lake-effect tonight, with the lake-effect machine continuing through the rest of this week into this weekend. Snow totals ranged from little to nothing along the Superior shoreline due to the warm lake temperatures, to 2 feet plus in the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties. The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
Another polar front will move through next week bringing even colder temperatures.
