Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/08

February 8, 2023

30 degrees this morning with a bright blue sky. I know its kinda nice to see the sun for a change but its sure gonna hurt the trails. Its supposed to hit about 40 today and that ain`t gonna help! I do see we will have a system come thru tomorrow and drop a few inches of snow but the temps are gonna be on the warm side. Nuff on the weather, its just bumming me out. Here`s what I got for the trails from yesterdays grooming…..

I ran the South trail #8 and it turned out just beautiful. Our infamous swamp is gettin pretty brown but still solid. After today it might get iffy.

Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and said its in great shape.

Groomer Glenn hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and said the same.
We have a new guy, Groomer Keith, he ran the Falls trail last night but apparently he hasn`t got the memo yet to let me know how it went to give ya a report but I know that trail is in great shape too.

We will just hold on to our britches and see what this weather will do to the trails. I`ll try and update ya`s most everyday. Now on to something we feel is almost as important……
I want to give out some much needed shout outs and thank you`s. A BIG shout out and thank you goes to our friendly neighbors the Chippewa Snow Chasers out of Strongs. They covered the southern most 4 miles of trail #8 for us while we were working on freezing in the swamp and we couldn`t make it down that way. A BIG thank you goes out to Brian Vicente from Ohio for the very generous donation to our club. A HUGE thank you goes out to the Motor City Sled Heads for their $1500 donation. Apparently they do a charity couples ride every year to different destinations around the UP and we were chosen as this years place to go. I sincerly hope ya`ll had a good time and a great ride!!! All of this money goes directly back into our club for upgrades to the barn and our wish list!!!! THANK YOU ALL, past and present for the donations. If anyone wants to come out to the barn and see what we`re up to, feel free. Somebody is there most of the time. Our new barn is 1/2 mile west of the blinking light down trail #8 just past the scrap yard, first drive on the left.

All I have for today. Straighten UP Mother Nature, we have a short enough season as it is!!!!

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average.
Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #petoskey #gaylord #cadillac #traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW. Are trail gates closed on Trail 5 from Champion up to Big Bay and other trails around there or can we still sneak out? With this much snow, we can probably can’t see the gates! Lol.

Heavy wet snow will arrive later tonight into Thursday morning as a low pressure system lifts into the Great Lakes. Strong northerly winds are expected and blowing snow is likely. Widespread 8-12 inches are forecast; higher amounts in excess of 2 feet are forecast across the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties into Thursday morning. Note: A sharp gradient in snow totals is expected just inland from the Great Lake-especially along the Lake Superior shoreline in Baraga and Marquette Counties.
