FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/12 Is this the calm before the mother of all storms. We are supposed to start getting hit later today friday afternoon. Its a pretty quiet morning here in downtown Frederic. I did see 4 sleds crossing the trail in Grayling about 8 a.m. and they were heading towards frederic. Talked to a guy in town last nite at Rays on the River and he said the best riding they had yesterday were the trails around Grayling. No new snow overnight. The motels in Grayling were still pretty empty with only 7 trailers betweent the 2 big hotels. That kind of surprised me. Lets see what the day really brings.There are alot of peoplel that have messaged me that say they are coming north today and with it being along weekend it might be a great weekend of riding. Still alot to melt off here in Frederic, Piles were huge and so very rock hard its still gonna take them a while to melt down. The good thing about all the snow was that it spread the riders out all thru the state which made for a much safer season. Even with that there were still 12 deaths with only 4 in the lower and the rest in the u.p.
