Two tracks – ice and packed snow. For more info call Kent at 906-842-3324.
WARNING: Although as a rule, we never comment about riding on Lake Gogebic itself, as the DNR (the sponsor of our grant money) does not recognize trails over open water – thus there are no trail markings on the lake. However, we’re experiencing a first ever problem on the lake that we want to make sure we inform our riders about for their safety. We have reports of two large holes of open water between the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern (at the northwest corner of the lake) and Fishtales Resort (approx. 6 miles south of the Hoop on the west shore). There are reports, also, of ice heaves near these spots. Please use caution and ride slow enough to see far ahead of you. These conditions could change rapidly so please use caution.
The Watersmeet groomers finally went out. All trails are rolled and are in fair condition. Please use cautions corners are icy. Trail 3 north of Bruce Crossing has some trees over the trail. Groomers will be working on getting the trees off of the trail so slow down and watch out for the groomers working on the trail. Trail 3 south to Land O Lakes the snow is thin but rideable.
