Boyne Area Trail Report – Mountainside Inn – 01/11

Petoskey Snowmobile Club – 01/11
Current Trail Conditions: Good

We had a couple beautiful days over last weekend. Sunny but cold. Great riding out on the trails. The problem with sunny, cold weather is that it tends to evaporate some of the moisture out of the snow so the trails are getting just a bit thin in spots. We had a little bit of lake-effect snow on Sunday night and into Monday morning but we could use a good solid snowfall of at least a few inches to freshen up the trails. Grooming operations are continuing and the trails are good. Don’t wait for more snow. Ride now. Mid-week is usually excellent riding. Smooth trails and little traffic.

The new trail into Petoskey IS OPEN! It goes from our clubhouse trailhead (on the corner of Cedar Valley Rd. and Evergreen Trail) to the Odawa Casino just south of Petoskey. The trail has a few road crossings, including having to cross US-131 at Lears Rd. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use extreme caution when crossing any road. STAY ON THE TRAIL and obey traffic signals. Safety first.

Mancelona Trail Report
Jordan Valley Trails Council
Updated: 01/10
Current Trail Conditions: Poor

The lake effect snow did not fair too well to all the weekend traffic. The trails between Mancelona and Lakes of the North are still in ride able condition but most of the system is not that good. The groomer from Larrys is not going out till we get some more snow. If you need to ride there is snow enough on parts of the trail to have a good ride but don’t expect to have a good ride on the whole system.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – Evert’s Snowmobile Rentals – 01/11

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to be in fair to very good condition except for the High Rock trail which is in poor condition due to low snow.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
